What's your favorite Psalm? and why?

Psalm 24

The ESV (English Standard Version) of the Bible, so entitles it, "The King of Glory". Here we have the celebration of entrance into Jehovah's Land and the description of the One who may enter that Land.

The psalm finds its truest meaning in the Promised One of the Old Testament, our Lord Jesus Christ. Since He [Christ] has gone before us and has by His perfect righteousness satisfied the Father's Wrath against all sin committed against His [God the Father] Holy Law and entered into Jehovah's Land as the one with clean hands and a pure heart, we therefore by saving faith in Him [Christ] find that we too can enter into that same Land with a pure heart and clean hands based not upon our own works but upon this King of Glory and His righteous works.

Without this - the Gospel - all is vanity! Here we find 'the blessing of the Lord and righteousness from the God of [our] salvation" (Psalm 24:5). This is my only Hope for this life and the life to come! This truly is the Gospel! Praise God!

One Year Later!!!

Well it has been one year and we are still here!!! We have moved from Louisville, KY to the mountains of North Georgia and now we find ourselves back in Kentucky living just west of Louisville, KY in the town of Owensboro, KY. Much smaller than Louisville and much bigger than our North Georgia town we find it comfortable. We still find ourselves missing the bustle of the big city and hope to never return to a small America!!! Although some might consider where we live now to be small town America but we definitely do not!!! If anyone needs proof or persuasion please just ask us about our experiences.
Living in Owensboro, KY is nice. We are apart of a local church in which we are blessed to hear the full counsel of God's Word preached, in which the Gospel saturates our singing, praying, preaching, teaching, fellowship and fun!! We are blessed by God. Prasie God for from Him all goods things come. Joshua and I have been priveldged to sit under some great classes ranging in subjects on the doctrine of Christ, the doctrine of the Word, Major Lessons from the Minor Prophets, Eschatology, Hebrew and Greek. We are learning and being challenged daily to know Christ and Him crucified for we are desperate for Gospel preaching ourselves even as believers.
Josh and I are both working. Josh full-time and I part-time. We have been able to read much over the past year on family, marriage, parenting, philosophy, the minor prophets, the civil war, WWII (Joshua's reading interest), and eschatology. We pray to be more committed to blogging this year and keeping up with all you out there that know us and those we don't but may frequent the blog. God's blessings to you all.

What we've been up to lately.....

So, this is my (Joshua) first entry on our blog... My wife, Amanda does most of the blogging, though hasn't in awhile.So I thought I would give it a go. At the beginning of this year, I have tried to lead our family in a more disciplined and structured study time of our biblical studies together as a family.

In December we read through Pastor Ray Rhodes, who is the Elder of Grace Community Church in Dawsonville, Georgia. We have been blessed by being under his preaching and teaching sice we have moved to Georgia.

On the Lord's Day we have been reading, John Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress.

Monday-Saturday Reading before Bed

We have been reading, The First Epistle of Clement To The Corinthians. We just finished this letter of Clement last night. It was a great read, and will go on to read, Epistle of Mathetes to Diognetus, from vol. 1 of Ante-Nicene Fathers.

On Mondays, its my (Joshua) study night for studying Church History, I am reading the following books:

- Douments of the Christian Church
- Introduction to the History of Christianity
- Turning Points: Decisive Moments in the History of Christianity
- Church History in Plain Language
- 131 Christians Everyone Should Know

On Tuesdays we have Anger Tuesdays, learning to grow in grace in responding rightly when angry. Our goal is to root out unrighteous anger.

We are taking a free class from RTS on Church History (we are listing to it through a pod cast). So far it has been very good.

Here is Josh on his birthday! Can you tell that he is a BIG Georgia Bulldogs fan? And of course for his birthday I fixed him a great homemade Lasagna dinner, since it is his most favorite to eat! And then the bottom picture shows him at his Dad's and the cake was a surprise to him from his Dad and his Dad's wife. Go Dawgs!!!
